Dear Member
Do you know what your cash equivalent transfer value (“CETV”) is?
You may have seen the headline on the front page of last Saturday’s FT about “breathtaking” sums being offered to members for cashing in their final salary pensions.
Though it may seem counter-intuitive to transfer out of employer-funded pension schemes (often referred to as “gold-plated” or “copper- bottomed”), there are a number of sensible reasons for at least considering why you might transfer to a personal pension. These include prospective income, capital gains and inheritance tax benefits derived from more flexible arrangements. Also, the inherent risk of schemes that are challenged to remain appropriately funded adds to the equation, as do your own personal circumstances and objectives. For any of you thinking properly about your CETV, the facts need to be examined carefully before concluding whether your circumstances warrant a transfer out or whether you should retain the benefits.
To receive independent, specialist advice on your CETV, you can begin the discussion by either (i) attending one of our talks (details below),
(ii) calling me directly on +44 (0) 20 3696 6801 for a consultation (non-obligatory), or (iii) emailing nick.fletcher@londonwallpartners.com.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
