Ruth has over 25 years’ experience in financial services as an international risk management and compliance professional, with her formative regulatory years spent at IMRO (a precursor body to the now FCA). She held senior positions in a number of major financial institutions, including Flemings, HSBC and BNY Mellon. Latterly, Ruth was appointed Director of Investment Business at the Financial Services Commission in the British Virgin Islands. Here she regulated funds and hedge funds, wrote legislation and regulation, developed monitoring programmes, conducted enforcement cases and chaired the Offshore Group of Collective Investment Schemes Supervisors for five years. Prior to returning to the UK, Ruth spent time as a consultant to the IMF, working with fledgling offshore financial services jurisdictions.

Ruth is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and holds a degree in Pharmacology from the University of Liverpool.

When not working, Ruth enjoys outdoor pursuits such as sailing, hiking and gardening. She also loves to cook for friends and family.
